One day last week I checked in on Kayden during one of her naps from work (I can view her on the surveillance crib cam from my iPhone). I was completely shocked when I saw her sleeping on her belly! This is my child who wants NOTHING to do with tummy time; she JUST learned to roll onto her belly about 2 weeks ago; and she loves looking at her mobile! I couldn’t believe Kayden was choosing to be on her belly… especially during a relaxed sleeping time! Either way it freaked me out because we all know babies aren’t supposed to sleep on their tummies. I had read somewhere, however, that once babies roll over and choose to sleep on their bellies that we should go ahead and let them sleep. That reading was a few months ago, so it wasn’t a fresh thought in my brain when I first saw her! From that day on Kayden has been put in her crib on her back and then somehow wakes up on her belly! I seem to watch her a little closer at nap time and check the cam more frequently throughout the night! I’m sure this is just one of the many new changes (that will scare Mommy) to come!

Not to worry Mommy – Sleeping on their belly I have found is actually a good thing. This way they can’t hit themselves during the night. The problem we are having is not the belly but the big sister trying to climb up the crib and her very loud voice calling out “Reese is sleeping”!! Now that is a problem I am not sure what to do with 🙂
