Since finding out we are expecting child number two, Scotty and I have decided that after this school year, I will become a stay-at-home mom. We have been so fortunate in the past two years to have my mom and Maica help out in watching Kayden on the few days I have had to go to work. With two children we decided we have to make some changes. It just seems the right decision for our family for me to take a leave of absence from my job to stay home and raise the kids full time. The decision was a hard one. With the economy being so crappy right now, it’s hard to walk away from a secure job. However, the job I do (special education teacher) is a challenging one that often seems to produce more stress in my life than anything else. I really like what I do, but I think I am just ready for a break. Not that I think raising two small children is a break by any means, but I think I’m ready for that change. If I am going to be challenged, it might as well be by my own kids, right?! 😉 Since making my decision to stay at home, going into work has been a real struggle. I think that knowing my time is limited, it makes the time I have left seem like it’s crawling by. I want nothing more than to just be at home with the one child I have. I have a committment to my job that I will fill, but it isn’t always easy! I’m due June 6 and because Kayden was two weeks early we are planning for an early arrival of number two. Even if the baby isn’t early, a little extra time preparing won’t hurt! I have five more months. I can do this!
Here are the highlights of the week so far.
This is Kayden and Eli at the park with Maica.
And here is Kayden playing dress up with Maica while Eli takes a nap. It’s not too often that she is the one awake and Buddy is sleeping. I’m sure Maica just loved her girl time! 🙂
Kayden got to spend the entire day with Nam today. Nam doesn’t too often get to take an entire day with Kayden, so today was a rare treat for the both of them. I put Nam in charge of teaching Kayden how to climb and and come down the stairs. To my complete surprise, she accomplished this task!! Although, I have to take her word for it because Kayden refused to do any physically demanding tasks once Mommy got home! Story of my life!! They also made a fort, rearranged the toy chest, rode her bike, and took nature walks around the complex. It’s no wonder she wanted to go to bed at 7:00 tonight! Thanks Nam for a fun day of exploration and sweet, sweet memories!
Kayden demanded she wear Nam’s Ugg boots. Surprisingly they weren’t too big and she was able to walk around in them. Big foot… like mother like daughter!
