Kloey can talk…. sorta…. not really! But she’s starting to mimic certain phrases that she hears. I have caught video of her saying “Uh-Oh” and “All Done”, but I think I have heard “No” and “Hi” too.

It’s no secret that Kayden is a pretty awesome 2 year old. She is GREAT with Kloey – she shares her toys, brings Kloey her own toys, brings me diapers/wipes, and will do anything I ask to help me with her little sister. Kayden doesn’t get mad when I tell her I can’t play hopscotch because I am holding Kloey. She doesn’t get frustrated when I tell her she has to be quiet while her sister naps. She has never laid a mean-spirited hand on her attention-soaking little sister. In addition to all of this, Kayden has been my side kick while running errands. I can (and have MANY times!) literally walk her up and down every isle in Toys R Us looking for gifts for other children without her once asking me to buy her something. I can mosey around Target up and down toy isles, food isles, and in and out of the clothes section without her ever asking me to buy her something. I often wonder what is wrong with this kid?! So yesterday I was taking her to Toys R Us to buy Kloey some food and I told her on our way in that I wanted to buy her a prize for being awesome. My intention was to get her a little something – under $12. She had so much fun walking up and down the isles saying, “How about this one?” And, like any child, she pointed to the biggest, brightest toy in the isle. For each item she pointed out, I would nicely say that it was too big or too expensive. She would smile and say, “Let’s keep looking!” She loved going to the art sections, stuffed animal sections, boy toys, barbies, kitchen stuff, baby stuff, and every other corner in the store. Well, she finally found a baby up high on a shelf that was put in a box with other little babies. The baby was $8. The baby had a little scuff on her head and a little dirt on her shirt. I tried to redirect her to a bigger dolly in a box with accessories. She appeased me and went to look at the nicer doll, but found her way back to the original doll she had chosen. As I turned around to put my doll back, she took the liberty of finding a baby carrier ($15!) that she had to have to carry her new dolly in. Reminding myself of the reason I was buying her this ‘prize’, I decided to splurge and spend $22 ($10 over budget) to show my darling 2 year old that I am proud of her. The whole way home we talked about why she got a prize that day and that it was a special thing – NOT to be expected every time we go to the toy store! We’ll see how that goes!!

We all remember the hilarious pictures of Kayden sitting on both Santa and the Easter Bunny’s laps, right? Yeah, I know you’ve got the visual. So this is why Miss Kloey was the only one to sit on the Easter’s Bunny’s lap this year– for fear that someone might call CPS for the obvious torture of a toddler. For the past two days I have been coaching Kayden that Kloey was going to sit on the Easter Bunny’s lap for one picture, but then Mommy AND Kayden were going to go sit NEXT to the Easter Bunny. She was all game until we got there. Once again, she was all tough girl talking about sitting next to the Easter Bunny until we rounded that corner and we saw a large brown (ugh, BROWN?!) over-sized stuffed animal waving as we were the only children approaching. Kloey was like, ‘Yeah whatever, Mom. I’ll sit here and not smile.’ Kayden was like, ‘You’re off your rocker lady if you think I am sitting on that unpredictable stuffed animal that moves and has a fan powered on high sitting right in front of him!! So Mimi quickly escorted Kayden to the nearest candle store while Kloey got her first picture with the Easter Bunny. I guess it was a 50% successful trip.

P.S. What is with the brown bunny this year?! The local mall down the street has a gross pink one so I figured I would make the drive to the mall in a different city remembering that they had a white one last year. I think I might have opted for the pink rather than the brown! Oh well, maybe we’ll do both this year. For Kloey that is!

Thought I’d throw this one in… just in case you managed to forget the trauma of last year!

Thank you Nam and Papa for buying Kayden her first bike!! She is so excited to learn how to ride it, but she is a little bit hesitant right now. It’s like she really wants to ride it, but she isn’t so sure about doing it herself. She is more than happy to sit on the bike, feet up, and being pushed around the yard! I’m still trying to get my timid princess to learn to ride a tricycle! She isn’t as motivated to ride that though!

Kloey also got her first helmet. We are ready for our family bike ride. And NO, I will not be towing either of the children!

Kloey just had her 9 month check up. I already did her 9 month blog, but I didn’t have her stats at that time, so here goes! Kloey’s height is 28.25 inches, which is the 72nd percentile. Her weight is 21.6 pounds, which is the 90th percentile. And her head circumference is 46 centimeters, which is the 94th percentile. Like her older sister, Kloey tops the scale in weight and head circumference! Some of her milestones include looking around for hidden objects, playing peek-a-boo, and clapping her hands. Kloey indicates wants with vocalizations (in the form of loud grunts and screams!). She responds to her name and babbles to and fro with people. As for the gross motor, Kloey can stand while holding on to hands or furniture. She can sit alone well, transfers objects between hands, and is learning to feed herself. She is great at grabbing food, but has difficulty releasing it into her mouth! Kloey is very close to crawling and is great at scooting backwards on her belly all around the room. She loves tummy time and I am hoping she is on her way to crawling! The pediatrician is not concerned that her top two teeth are making an appearance before the bottom teeth, but just today I think I spotted the K9 teeth on top starting to poke through too! She is going to have 4 on top before she has 2 on bottom!! No matter which teeth come first, my Kloey is adorable!!
