Lately I have started to notice that there has been a few changes in our house. Ever since Kayden could walk (or scoot ;)) she has been glued to my side. This is still the case when it’s just me and the girls all day. She does not play by herself. She will not play in her room without me. She has a plethora of toys and interactive gadgets- including a painting/chalk/marker easel, but nothing is so enticing that she’ll be engaged by herself. So my point is, I have always been Kayden’s most exciting toy… until recently! It turns out that Kayden has just figured out how fun her father is! They both like to play. They both like movies. They both like to ride on Scotty’s cruiser. They both like doing perfect push-ups. They both like salami. The list goes on!! So Kayden just figured out how fun daddy is and she has left me in the dust!! She use to only ask for her dad when she was in trouble with me or I told her “no” too many times. Then she started asking for dad when she wanted to watch a movie. Now she demands dad throughout the day – usually when she is bored with me. I have to say, I do love this new found obsession Kayden has with her dad! It gives me a little bit of a break – I can send her out to his office (during non-working hours, of course!) while I try to get things done in the house. I keep trying to tell Kloey how fun her dad is, but she still prefers me! 🙂 I’ll take it!!

It’s official… Kloey has said her first word!! Her first word (drum roll, please!) was DA-DA! Of course, right?! As an educator who has taken courses in child development, let me set the record straight and inform you all that a baby begins babbling and the sounds they make are RANDOM! Ha!! The /d/ and /a/ sounds are the easiest to make and just so happen to identify one parent… and not the one that sacrificed body, sleep, mind, emotions, and soul to be their parent!! I went back into my archive of posts and I found a similar post stating that Kayden had uttered the same first word at the same age! Great, both of my children are going to be talkers!! I actually love it though! Kayden and I took a walk today and the converstaions I can have with my two year old are not only comical, but they are pretty impressive. We were talking about cattails, flowers, pine cones, dog poop, and the cars parked along the street. Each of these topics presented questions and comments from my little peanut gallery! I know we are in for many years of talk, talk, talking!

Kloey is another month older and getting cuter and cuter every day!! She is such a happy baby and doing amazing things. Kloey can sit up on her own, but finds it extremely funny to throw herself back. Luckily, she falls on a stack of pillows or my hand. For this reason, she is only practicing this skill on the couch! She rolls in all directions and rarely remains in the same place when left on the floor. Kloey loves her exersaucer! This contraption was designed by a baby genius!! The exersaucer allows me to get things done and do things with/for Kayden! I absolutely love this thing and so does Kloey! Like her big sister, Kloey is shaping up to be a good eater. She takes 5 bottles a day and eats two solid meals. I am just beginning to add in a third meal because she is eating more and more at breakfast and dinner! She loves all veggies, fruits, and she is just beginning on meats. I am surprised with myself because I am actually already giving Kloey table food! She likes lunch meat, ham, and ice cream! I give her VERY small portions and she just loves it. The ice cream was a ONE TIME thing, although we won’t tell her that! She had a few bites and little baby bird kept her mouth wide open the whole time we were eating it waiting for her next bite. She probably only got a handful of bites, but she sure enjoyed what she got. (Yeah I’m obviously feeling guilty as this entire post is becoming me justifying — to myself! — that she really didn’t have ‘that much’ ice cream!). Okay, moving on! Kloey continues to be a great sleeper. Yes, we have had our handful of hiccups along the way, but Kloey has settled into a nice routine. She goes to bed at 7:30 and wakes up around 6:30 or 7:00. She plays in her crib and turns on her mobile until I wake up and get her! She takes two solid naps in her crib. She takes a two or more hour nap in the morning and then about a two hour nap in the afternoon. She naps for a total of 3-4 hours in the day, which is fantastic!! Kloey is becoming more and more independent and we are falling more and more in love with our littlest princess!!

The Holidays have come and gone and I know it has been far too long since I have blogged. Well, maybe it’s not that it has been a long time since I have blogged so much as it is that a lot of things have happened since my last post. The first big event being Christmas!! While it was technically Kloey’s first Christmas, it was probably the first Christmas where Kayden kind of had an idea as to what was going on. For these reasons, this Christmas was truly awesome for Scotty and me. Kayden and I made cookies for Santa and Scotty and I made sure that Santa left his mark to let Kayden know he had come. We began some traditions that will continue and grow as the years go by. The girls were effectively spoiled with Kayden getting a car, scooter, painting/chalk easel, clothes, toys, and a trip to Disneyland!! Kloey got a bunch of toys that will help entice her to crawl and of course some cute clothes!! Our girls are truly blessed to have so many wonderful people in their lives that not only spoil the heck out of them, but also love the heck out of them!!

On Christmas Eve we headed over to my parents’ house and spent the day with the Mihelich side of the family. We had a nice quiet day hanging out, opening gifts, and eating way too much good food! Thank you all for a great day and such generous gifts!

On Christmas morning our family woke up and enjoyed opening presents from Santa and having a ‘super special’ breakfast. After our family did our thing, the Hatcher bunch came over and celebrated Christmas day at our house. We all had a great time hanging out, opening gifts, playing with gifts, and eating good food. Thanks for coming over and bringing the fun and food!!

Around Thanksgiving we all start to think about our Christmas cards. For those of you like me, you know that you really have until December 1st to truly figure it out! Well, this year has been like all others and I procrastinated. Around December 1st I started looking through Picassa Web, the home of most of our treasured pics, to find that perfect picture for our Christmas card. Would it be a Charger family pic? A standard picture at the beach? Or maybe one around the Christmas tree? Nope! As it turns out, I could not find one single picture of me, Scotty, Kayden, and little Kloey. We had literally not taken one picture of our fearsome foursome, not one! Luckily, Auntie Kel took matters into her own hands and arranged a Hatcher family photo shoot…. (apparently I wasn’t the only one who hadn’t taken a family picture!!). We held a semi-professional photo shoot in our very own backyard. After weeding through 200+ photos we found some real gems! Thanks Kel and Scotty (and Jake for the artistic shots!) for taking some fantastic family photos!! 😉
