For day 2 of my birthday celebration last week we took Kayden and Kloey to Sea World. We have a pass to Sea World, the Zoo, and the Wild Animal Park. Going to each of these establishments is a crazy idea during the summer – especially because these places are practically in our own backyard and we can go any time for a few hours or for the whole day! We decided to go last week thinking school had resumed and the park would likely be empty. Wrong! We arrived around 10:30 and parked nearly half way back in the parking lot! Luckily, when we got there everyone seemed to be in shows because there was no one in the kid zone! Kayden was able to ride her very first ride at an amusement park! To my surprise she totally loved the rides. She rode each of the three rides about three times each by the end of our day! It’s no surprise that her dad took her on most of the rides. I have never been an adventurous one (surprised?!) and even one of the kiddie rides made my tummy turn!

Kloey slept through the whole adventure… as always!

On the way home Kayden started to show the signs of getting sick. She threw her shades on and zonked the ride home.

Once we got home it was movies and a little extra cuddle time with mommy and daddy to heal the soul!

I have always been one to celebrate my birthday for the week leading up to my birthday. Now that I have children, you might think that the importance of my birthday has dwindled. WRONG! Thank you Scotty for two wonderful days of spoiling, and thanks Mimi for letting me get in a little ‘me’ time!

Normally the pediatrician will recommend you transition your toddler from a crib to a toddler bed around the time she tries to climb out of her crib. At Kayden’s two year check up we asked if we might consider transitioning her now since she is a big two year old! The doctor said if she isn’t trying to climb out, there is no need. So we held on to that for about a month, but then decided it might be a fun thing to do anyway. There have been some stories from friends about their little ones running rampant in their new found freedom, so there was some hesitancy on my part. Knowing Kayden as most of us do, there really was no need for any hesitancy! I am proud to say that she transitioned beautifully to her new bed. In fact, she won’t even get out of her bed until we come to her room. Good or bad?? When she is playing in her room she will get on and off of her bed, but when she goes down or wakes up from a sleep, she stays put! So lucky!!

From the pictures you can see we have her bedding set up wrong. Do not panic! We have since made the change and she is safely sleeping with her head at the correct end!

Kloey has also made a bedding transition. She is sleeping in her big girl crib! We had her sleeping in her own room (2 1/2 steps from our room) in her bassinet after about a week of grunts and miscellaneous screams that made both her mother and father crazy! She did great in her own room and we could see her on the camera so I felt no urgency to put her in her big ‘ol sterile crib. We figured if we were going to go through sleeping issues transitioning Kayden, might as well take the risk at the same time with Kloey! Luckily for me, sleeping is continuing to go smoothly!

Unless you live under a rock, you know that the Olympics are going on right now. Well, the best athletes in the world aren’t the only ones showing off their skills this week! Kayden and Eli have been competing for the highest sky jump. I would say Eli takes the gold for his form and Kayden takes the gold for mid-air tricks! Great work kids!

After a long afternoon competing, the kids had a little R&R and unwound to a nice meal.

If you could see into our house at 8:00 PM you would see a dance party. You would see a father dancing around the many objects and toys lovingly strewn around the family the room. His hands would be held high as his two year old marches behind him mimicking his every move. You would hear said father loudly singing to the latest jams on the radio. After all of the windows in the house were closed, you would see a timid mother bringing up the rear of this dancing train. She would follow suit and manage to have a great time… even though she HATES dancing. If you looked closely you would see Kloey sitting in her infant seat just watching the chaos ensuing before bedtime. It would be a sight that would absolutely melt your heart. This little family just loves to dance our wiggles out before it’s time to retire for the day!

I only have video of this dance party, which has not been authorized for release, so here is just a fun picture!

Kloey is already two months old and our life is finding its new normal. Let’s start with her stats. Kloey is 23.3 inches long, which is the 89th percentile. She weighs in at 11 pounds 12 ounces, which is the 61st percentile. And finally, her head circumference is 28 1/2 centimeters, which is the 50th percentile. She is growing perfectly on target! There are definitely some fun things Kloey is learning to do. She smiles socially in response to people- and not just mommy! She likes to watch peoples’ faces. She follows objects from side to side and she is learning to hold her head up. We need more tummy time, which she kind of likes! She is cooing with vowels and I’m pretty sure she is starting to giggle! She is also gaining some control over those elusive limbs she’s got! And the biggest news that I have been waiting a few weeks to share, so as not to curse myself, is that Kloey is sleeping through the night!!!! She takes anywhere from 3 to 5 ounces of Mommy milk at 9:30 PM and she sleeps until 7:00 AM!! She has always been a good sleeper, so I have been really lucky. From 2 weeks on she only ever woke up once to feed. She’s been sleeping later and later and around 7 weeks she started sleeping all the way until 7:00 AM. I really don’t think I could make it through having an infant and toddler without the sleep she is giving me! While I can brag about her sleep, all is not rosey all of the time. Miss Kloey does not like to be put down… at all!! If she is awake- which she is a lot of the day because she sleeps all night- she wants Mommy holding her. Sometimes it’s hard to get that daily shower in or finish the dishes, or any other of my chores. Luckily she loves the Bjorn and I pretty much go through my entire day either holding her or having this nearly 12 pound child strapped to my chest! I think it’s time for a Mommy massage… or some chiropractic adjusting!

Kloey, we are so thrilled with how you are growing and advancing. I know it’s only been two months, but could you slow down? You’re growing up way too fast!
