Kayden recently started swimming lessons and has taken to it like a champ! We all know that Kayden is a bit ‘timid’ in new situations, to put it lightly! We decided to opt for the parent-and-me classes knowing that our little darling would probably not fare well in a class with a stranger as the teacher. In this class Scotty goes in the pool with Kayden and implements each of the skills that the teacher presents. Right now they are working on going under the water, floating on the back, jumping in the pool, kicking, and walking across a train floatation device. Kayden does well with each task except floating on her back. She does NOT like her ears under water. I can understand her discomfort with that, but we’ll need to master each skill before we get promoted to the next level. Keep up the good work, Swim Star!!

Big Sister
Dear Kayden,
You are the most beautiful, funny, kindhearted child that a mother could ever be proud of. You have taken to being a big sister like it was always your destiny. You help Mommy change diapers, give baths, feed, give Kloey her soothy when mommy’s hands are full), swaddle, and sing songs to your little sister!! You truly are the best big sister in the world! Kayden, how can I possibly thank you for being so patient and helpful as your Mommy tries to find a healthy balance between being a mother of two, a wife, and a homemaker? I am so proud of you for not only being a great big sister, but for also taking on new challenges- potty training!! You’re journey of becoming a “big girl” has been such a joy to watch. Kayden, you have a big personality and you are learning just what it means to try new things. Whether it’s climbing the furniture (to become her stage for a dance routine) or speaking in full sentences, my dear Kayden you fill your Mommy’s day with laughter each and every day!! I love the independence you are exerting and the need you have to return to me to kiss your boo-boos. You are growing up far too fast and if I could bottle you up and save you as you are today, I would in a heart beat! Since I am learning that I have to let you go and grow to become your own little person, I will hold on to these pictures to remember that you have been a spit fire since you were 2!!! Thank you dear Kayden for being the best big sister, and most amazing daughter in the whole world!!!! “I love you FOREVER!”
Kloey’s First Photo Shoot
Kloey had her first photo shoot a few weeks ago and I couldn’t be more thrilled with the pictures! Kim recommended an awesome photographer down in Carlsbad. She was absolutely amazing with both of my girls and took some wonderful shots. We have already ordered pictures that will soon be filling our home. Thanks for the great recommendation, Kim!
Here are our favorites!
Kayden had to get in on the shoot too. These pictures came out priceless!
Potty Training Princess
Well the time has come to potty train our princess, Kayden. We knew the time was coming, but I honestly dreaded to whole thing. It presents a whole new challenge for me as a control-freak mother. I now need to know where a toilet is at all times. I also need to remember to ask her every hour (now I need to track every hour for Kayden to pee and every three hours for Kloey to eat!). Kayden is surprisingly on board with this whole thing. We have had our share of accidents, but for the most part as long as we remind her to use her potty, she goes pee in it every time. She has also gone BM in the potty once too! She gets two M&Ms for pee pee and a little bowl of ice cream for BMs. Thanks goodness our child is food driven! Wish us luck!!
Kloey is 1 Month!
Wow, how time flies!! Kloey is already one month old and doing great! She is on a feeding schedule of eating every three hours and she gives me a good stretch at night time. She takes five ounces of breast milk in a bottle before bed and after sucking that down she sleeps for 5 hours! I give her the bottle to ensure that she gets one final good feeding. Otherwise, she tends to fall asleep while breast feeding, and once this girl is asleep she is tough to wake up!! She goes to bed between 9:30 and10:00 and then wakes up around 3:00 am. I couldn’t be more thrilled with her schedule! She still sleeps most of the day, but she is starting to have longer awake periods. She is such an easy baby, but she definitely prefers to be held close and snuggled in a big bulky blanket most of the time! Kloey, I hope your easy nature is one that sticks with you/us!
