Kayden went for her 18 month check up today and we’re proud to say she passed with flying colors! Here are her stats: Height- 33.25 inches = 89th percentile. Weight- 26.7 pounds = 89th percentile. Head circumference- 48 centimeters = 90th percentile. When the doctor showed us her graph, we saw that she continued to ride the top of the rainbow (it is a slanted curve). If her stats were a test, she’d be almost a straight A student! Way to go Kayden!

In order to keep MIssy happy, we had to briber her with some poofs!

The poofs only lasted so long… she wanted to get out of there!

While at the appointment, the doctor noticed that Kayden’s legs go inward, whereas normally a baby is bow-legged. Kayden is the opposite; she is a knee-knocker. Her thighs touch down to her knees and then her legs go slightly outwards. We got a referral to the orthopedic specialist down at Children’s Hospital in San Diegp. From there they’ll tell us what steps we need to take (if any) to help Miss Kayden have good, strong legs!

On Saturday night Scotty and I got a the opportunity to go out for a few hours and see a concert. We went and saw Jason Mraz at the Belly Up. We got tickets somehow- it is a very small venue that houses only a few hundred people. With a hook up from the Peterson’s, we were sitting so close that it felt like we were on stage! Jason Mraz put on a great show with acoustic music and a few guest performers and inspirational speakers! What a fun date night! Thanks Auntie Kel for spoiling Kayden and allowing us a little adult time! Thanks Peterson’s for a night of laughs and good music!

I was more interested in watching the show than actually taking pictures. Sorry for the poor quality on the last two!

I realize that I am about a week late wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving, but I finally feel like I’ve got a little time to update this blog. For Thanksgiving Scotty, Kayden, and I headed to Palm Springs for 4 days with the Mihelich side of the family. For the past few years my parents have rented a big house right on a golf course and we’ve spent the holidays just relaxing and enjoying the beautiful weather. This year it was a special time because Kayden was up and running and having a good ‘ol time exploring the grounds. We went swimming, rode bikes, watched movies, went on a date (without the child), and simply relaxed. We had all this fun and I did not take one picture! 🙁 Yeah, I take full blame for dropping the ball on this one. Isn’t it the woman that is supposed to remember to ‘document the moment’? Bummer! Even without the pictures, we’ll remember this past week as one where we were able to relax and enjoy some down time while Mimi, Grampy, Auntie Katrina, Uncle Jer, & Uncle Nick took over and entertained Kayden! Thanks Mimi and Grampy for a wonderful Thanksgiving! We have so much to be thankful for! xoxo

In case you weren’t aware… Christmas is coming! It’s definitely not too early to start the celebration and take out the classy Christmas sweaters! I tried to get Kayden to take a cute picture in her first-of-the-season Christmas outfit, but she would much rather run around!

Brushing your teeth never felt so good! This child LOVES to brush her teeth. Hope this habit sticks!

Ever since Kayden got the sweet taste of real food she has always been a good eater. She always cleaned her plate when the foods were pureed and then once she got teeth she devoured any and all new foods we introduced to her. Her favorite food group, by far, is fruit! She asks for fruit all day long. Her favorite fruits are blueberries and bananas. She would gladly take a piece of fruit over any sweets you could put in front of her. This, I have to admit, is such a relief for me! I don’t like fruits or veggies. In fact, I gag sometimes when I try to ‘force’ myself to eat these foods. When I was pregnant with Kayden I ate a banana every day (except weekends, those were my cheat days!) and I drank a V8 juice once a day. This might explain why she is learning not to like veggies. I didn’t try as hard to get veggies in, but I did have one at dinner! I told myself I would eat healthy when I was pregnant and I have to say that I think I did a pretty good job- for me! Then I promised I would eat well to set a good example for my child. So far, I don’t have to! Thanks Kayden for letting me off the hook!!

Here is Kayden enjoying her favorite snack- a banana!

Kayden certainly has been taking a special liking to her cabbage patch kid lately. It’s always been displayed on her chair sitting right next to her toy chest. I can’t blame her for not noticing it, however, because she has a whole slew of dolls, cars, purses, bears, dogs, etc. etc. etc.! Yesterday she was kind of playing with it so I decided to take it’s pajama’s off. Ever since I did that, she has been playing with the doll nonstop! She even pretends to put the PJs back on the doll, but if I try to help she wants nothing to do with it. In fact, she’ll usually scream and scoot off in the other direction! She likes to pretend dress it and then she puts it in her blanket. She also checks her ‘diap’ and will sometimes say ‘Eww’ (much like her daddy does when he’s changing her!).

One of Kayden’s most favorite times of day is bath time. As I am drawing the bath I strip her down naked and let her run free upstairs. She goes in and out of the different rooms and sometimes rearranges a few things before she comes back! Yes, I know it is very gutsy to let a baby roam free without her diaper. Only once did she have an accident on the carpet. Don’t worry, she told me… right after it happened!!
