A few years ago when we had the Crossfire (a convertable), Scotty and I loved to drive up and down the coast on sunny days. Living at the beach, we lose a lot of sunny days to the hazy marine layer. So when the weather is just right, we put the top down and just cruise. The Rubicon is a convertible, I guess. Although, maybe it’s not manly to say convertible, so we’ll just say that the top ‘comes off’. 😉 October has given us some pretty great weather, so we’ve taken advantage of it and hit many different beaches as we’ve headed south. Each night we stopped at a new beach, which always seemed to have a cool park for Miss Kayden to enjoy! We’ve been to the beaches of Carlsbad, Leucadia, Encinitas, Solana Beach, and of course our very own Oceanside! We spend an hour or so driving the coast and then we stop at a beach and let Kayden stretch her legs in the sand and at the park. It has been a great way to spend the late afternoons as a family.

These pictures are from today’s adventure all the way down to Solana Beach!

Scotty got a new toy this weekend. He got a brand new Jeep Wrangler Rubicon! Of course Scotty needs a new car, he has been driving his Scion for 9 whole months! I have to say, however, that Scotty has been wanting a Jeep for a LONG time. He frequently tells me about his dad’s jeep as a kid and how the drives with the top down off, he would fall asleep so quickly. After doing a lot or research and waiting for the green light from me (which, honestly I don’t remember ever giving that green light, but whatever!), he finally got his very own Jeep. We have already taken the jeep for a long ride down the coast with the top off this morning. Fall is definitely here, but my goodness, the weather is absolutely gorgeous! Here is our new toy.

Who knew eating could be so much fun?! Why is it that a child’s favorite food is the either the messiest to clean up (peanut butter, spaghetti, rice, etc.) or the least healthy (chicken nuggets, mac n cheese, you get the idea- let’s not throw me under the bus here!). Anyway, I know that Kayden loves spaghetti, but what I really know is that spaghetti keeps Kayden busy for a long time! It might have taken a bath to clean her off, but we sure did have a great time at dinner!

SUPER CUTE Video 😉

Thanks Daddy for being on the clean up crew!

And here is Miss K enjoying some mac n cheese (mixed with grilled chicken) and some greens (which, let’s be honest, they weren’t touched!!).

Why does my child insist on touching her hair when she has foody hands?!

Kayden is definitely up and running! She has been training with Scotty the past few days and now she can walk across the entire downstairs floor. She can turn and check out the kitchen area and then turn back and head to the garage. We are so impressed with how far Kayden has come. It just goes to show you what a little motivation can do!

Here is a video of Kayden taking one of her longest walks. We literally have about 10 great videos of Kayden taking her first steps.Thank goodness Ian and Jake were ready to take on the challenge of capturing Kayden in her element! They both had such a steady hand and didn’t miss a beat! Thanks Eeeeeeee and Jakeeeee!

Today is Scotty and my fourth wedding anniversary! What an amazing four years we have had as a married couple. Without getting too mushy here, I just want to say that I am perhaps the luckiest girl to have Scotty as my husband. He is truly the best husband, friend, and father! I love him more today than the day I married him (which is kind of a lot!) Happy Best-Day-Of-My-Life Scotty!!

Now on to the important news… Kayden is walking!!! Yahoooo! We are so excited! Scotty has been so great and taking her out walking using her leash. I should explain. The doctor discouraged us from letting Kayden hold our fingers when learning to walk. Well she really loved to walk so we decided to get her a leash- by we I mean Scotty. There is no real support when using this leash, but we can allow her to try walking and save her from any major falls.! Last night and tonight Scotty took Kayden out into the neighborhood with her leash and he swore that she was taking steps with a loose leash. Below is a video PaPa took while Scotty and Kayden practiced walking. After their practice Scotty and I figured we’d put Kayden between us standing up to see if she’d walk to us. To our surprise she totally did! She walked about 5-10 independent steps before she tipped over!! On a few occasions, she walked just a few steps, but then stopped and stayed standing! We are doing big things in the Hatcher Home, folks! Stay tuned for the post that says my child is running and I can’t stop her!!
