The school year has begun and Maica and I are back into the swing of things at work and at home! We have both had a few days with our students and a full day with two babies! Wow, what a difference a year makes! Actually, it hasn’t even been a full year. We started swapping babies in January (2011). At that time Eli wasn’t able to sit up on his own and Kayden was still falling over frequently. Here we are 9 months later and Eli is walking and Kayden is scooting and trying to follow Eli around using mom’s hands as support. I had both babies today and had such a great time! We took Kayden’s Cozy Coup car out this morning and I traded drivers between kids. If Kayden was in the coup then Eli and I walked around. If Eli was in the coup then I helped Kayden walk around. I even got Eli to push Kayden in the coup! It was so sweet! I love that car! After their morning naps (they both slept at the same time!) we headed for a walk to the bank. They both had some crackers and we all had a great walk! Then we came home for lunch, enjoyed some play time, and then it was time for an afternoon nap! Eli doesn’t believe in sleeping so while Kayden took her recharge nap he played with all of her toys. I actually got a little time to catch up on emails and sort through my snail mail pile while Eli entertained himself!! Overall, we had a fantastic day! Eli and Kayden are fast friends and do a great job keeping each other entertained! Here are a few of the highlights- some are at Eli’s house with Maica on duty and the later are at our house with me!

Kayden’s latest trick has been to bring me or Scotty one of her books to read to her. I initially thought she was just ‘sharing’ her book with me. Then I noticed one day that when she handed me the book that she started dancing (aka bouncing around). Of course her favorite time to have a story read to her is when we are trying to get other things done- heaven forbid I try to cook diner when she wants to read or Scotty try to put one of her toys together! 😉 Our nighttime ritual always involves a bedtime story though. Unfortunately, Kayden starts to say Ni-Ni (Night Night) as soon as I turn the lights down and set in to read her a story. While she might not always want a bed time story, she sure does enjoy her mid-day fairy tales! 🙂

Congratulations to Scotty for passing a very important test! Scotty spent the first week of August at a training out in Rancho Bernardo. He spent the whole week  in class and then studying until the wee hours of the night for an Information Systems Security test. He was confident that he would pass, but I always get a little nervous when the stakes are so high! He found out yesterday that all of his hard work paid off. Kayden and I couldn’t be more proud!! xo

As I have mentioned Kayden loves to “walk.” Literally from the time she wakes up in the morning until bath time at bedtime this chick wants to walk. For the past few days she would get so excited when I would put her shoes on. If she was in another room or down a hallway, as soon as she saw her shoes she would scoot faster than I have ever seen her scoot! It was cute… now it’s getting a little overwhelming. Why? Because now she finds her shoes on the floor and then picks them up and brings them to me- in that same rapid scoot! Once she has reached me she will put the shoe in my hand and lift her foot. If I go along with what she wants she’ll then grab my hands and raise our hands above her head. If I continue to go along with it, she’ll walk me to the front door! She loves loves loves to be outside. She wants to be active, but unfortunately she can’t go do the things she wants to do all the time because heaven forbid I try to clean something or make her a meal. My sweet Kayden, the time will come (soon, I hope) when you are walking and running every where. Some might call me crazy, but I think we’ll both be much happier when that time comes! In the mean time, I am enjoying our loooong walks around the complex!

Here is a video of Miss Kayden showing me what she wants!

On Saturday Kayden and I headed to Kim’s brother’s wedding. Unfortunately, Scotty had to take a very important test Sunday morning and could not come to the wedding. We were so sad because we found out only the week before that he could not opt to take the test early! Luckily Mimi and Grampy were also invited and therefore on hand to help out with Kayden. During the ceremony Kayden wanted nothing more than to “walk” around the botanical gardens. I say “walk” because she can’t quite walk on her own but she still wants to be walked around! Grampy took over and even though it was super hot and Mimi made him wear a suit, he still wanted to walk with Kayden! The ceremony was so perfect for Billy and Magee. There was a balance between love and humor that was just perfect. My two favorite parts were when Magee walked down the isle to her late father singing her a song as a child and when Kim’s grandmother played the piano while the couple lit the traditional candles. Both events made me tear up and just really embraced the love that the two couple share! Thank you to Billy and Magee for inviting my family to be a part of such a beautiful day! I wish I would have captured more pictures (especially of the bride and groom!), but here are just a few of Kayden with Grampy and a few of Addison playing on the grass.
