Scotty and I took Kayden birthday party shopping yesterday at Party City. I had never been there and let me just say, that place is awesome!! I was so happy to find the plates and napkins that we will be using for Kayden’s FIRST birthday party! I can’t believe how close we are to her being a 1 year old!! As we checked, out the cashier asked if Kayden wanted a balloon. Hmmm… does she ‘want’ a balloon? Doubtful. Did the lady want to give her a balloon. Yes! Okay, so we took the balloon and now it is sitting in the living room scaring everyone. Kooper barks at the balloon. Jinx wants to kill the balloon. And Kayden scootches away from the balloon. She still isn’t moving, but she sure can spin in circles to avoid the balloon. The balloon would probably be a minor annoyance if it was just sitting in the corner, but it’s not. Scotty tied it on the dog toy and throws it across the room. Koop runs and hides, but Jinx finds it as a fun challenge and retrieves the balloon… thus scaring Kayden! I’m not sure if this means no balloons at Kayden’s birthday party or if it means we need to expose her to balloons in small doses until she finds them fun!

Jinx has some kind of bond with any and all of Kayden’s blankets and soft toys. If ever a bear, pony, or rabbit is left on the floor, we can be sure to find Jinx sleeping on the toy. She doesn’t bite the toy or fuss with it, but she always puts her chin on the toy and just hangs out. It really is cute!

Kooper is just fine watching from a safe distance!

Eli and Kayden are learning how to play ‘nice’. When the kids are having snack Eli is great about sharing his snacks with Kayden. She happily accepts his offerings. When it comes to toys Eli, is great about sharing any and all of his toys. Again, Kayden loves to accept his offerings.

Eli and Kayden enjoyed a morning snack while Kooper watched intently. Eli is more than willing to share his food with the dogs, Kayden on the other hand, is not! Koop didn’t get any treats on this feeding….

After snack time we decided to play catch. To my surprise, Kayden was super excited to “throw” me the basketball. Sure her skills aren’t mastered just yet, but she had a great time passing me the ball.

Nam got Scotty Kayden some blocks a few weeks ago. Kayden happens to love to eat them, while Scotty really enjoys building structures with them. It’s funny to watch really. Kayden is playing with anything within reach (a single block, a light up toy, or a left over Easter egg) and Scotty is extremely focused in building the tallest, coolest structure. In fact, Kayden’s foot knocked one building over, so he rotated her so she was facing away from the blocks! Anyway, the toy has been a success for both daddy and baby!

On Saturday Scotty, Kayden, and I went up to Yorba Linda for Yvonne’s (Kim’s mom) 60th birthday bash! The theme was 60s so we had some fun getting into the ‘groove’! At the last minute we found a tie-dye t-shirt for Scotty and Kayden had a tie-dye skirt. So they matched. I am not the biggest fan of dressing up, so I went with a hippie-like flower top. The party started at 6:30, which is when we typically start to wind down for the day. So, we weren’t too sure how she would handle an evening party. To our surprise, she did awesome! I walked her around the facility around her bedtime and she never woke up once she went down. Grampy sat in the hallway and enjoyed people watching while the baby slept. Mimi hit the dance floor with Scotty and I caught up with old neighbors and friends. What a great evening it all turned out to be!! 🙂

My first Mother’s Day was absolutely fantastic! Scotty was so great about making me feel special all day. He surprised me with some gifts and remembered to say Happy Mother’s Day at least once an hour (per my request!). He gave me a beautiful jewelry box engraved with a sweet message from Kayden. Inside the box was a necklace that had each of our three birthstones! What an amazing husband!! We hope your Mother’s Day was as special as ours!!
