Yesterday I was heading up to Yorba Linda and I had a blow out on the freeway!! What a scary experience. My poor mother and husband got several frantic phone calls and messages from me. How helpless I felt! I was driving along and heard a big pop and then noticed my tire pressure light was on. Luckily I was able to exit the freeway pretty quickly and was able to pull over as I heard the car riding on the rim. I didn’t know who to call to help. This isn’t smart. Nick and his friend Kevin came to my rescue. They, along with Kevin’s dad (a police chief!), and the Irvine police officer got the tire changed and put us on our way. I hope that NEVER happens again! We are so thankful to be safe!!

After we made our way to Yorba Linda I was able to go visit my grandma in the hospital before dropping Kayden off for her very first SLEEP OVER!! Oh it was hard on me to leave her, but I knew I was leaving her in great hands! Scotty and I were invited to go to the Laker game with Maica and Kris (Eli’s parents). Maica did us up in style and rented a limo for the occasion. It was a great time, thanks Petersons!!!

This picture does not do our seats justice- we were row 16!! 🙂

Kayden had some good quality time with Mimi and Grampy too!

Kayden hung out with Eli yesterday and per usual, Maica played dress up with the babies. She is a Spurs fan and her husband is a Lakers fan(atic). So naturally she dressed her child in a Spurs jersey and Kayden in a Lakers jersey. Scotty and I are also Lakers fans.. it’s hard not to like an awesome team. The Lakers play the Spurs on Thursday so we’ll see who the better team is!

It’s official… Kayden says DaDa!!! Well she actually says dadadadada-dadada-dada. 🙂 I know it isn’t purposeful yet, but it still warms my heart to hear my little girl accidentally calling for her Dada! Kayden has been vocal for a while now- go figure, she is a girl with two vocal grandmas! This all started around Friday and all weekend when she’s feeling sassy she’ll start up with her ‘dadas’. It’s super cute! We have heard mamamama too, but it’s not nearly as often. I hear the mamamama mixed in with a bunch of other garbled babbles so I’m not counting it yet! Here’s Kayden sporting her ‘I love my Daddy’ t-shirt (because it just seemed so perfect for her to wear with her new vocabulary!):

Kayden also had another first this weekend. She is now sitting, like a big girl, in the shopping cart! We finally ordered one of those protective shields for the grocery cart and wow what a difference it makes! We have used it at Target and Costco and Kayden loves to people watch and grab for all the neat things she can finally see up close and personal. Kayden, my love, you are growing and changing so quickly and I just love watching you accomplish new things! Love my big girl!!

Kayden loves her bath time. She loves it now especially, but she has always been fond of this nighttime ritual. Even if Kayden is a little fussy in the evening (which is rare, of course!), a nice warm bath always seems to do the trick. We went from a baby bath placed in the big kid tub to a foam insert placed on the bathtub floor. Well, last weekend we were up visiting Mims and Grampy for Uncle Jer’s birthday and we just didn’t have the foam insert. So I decided to be flexible and give Kayden a bath in the big kid tub with no modifications! She is sitting up on her own now so I figured we would ‘try’ it. To my surprise she loved it! She loves to kick the water and splash her hands around. I think it’s time for bath time toys! I love that you love to be clean my dear Kayden!

I know it’s only Tuesday, but we have had an action-packed week so far. Well, not really ‘action-packed’ but we’ve had what feels like VERY long days. Kayden is an awesome sleeper still- sleeping from 7:00 pm- 6:30 am, but our naps have fluctuated a bit in the past week or so. It might be the teeth or it might be that she just isn’t into napping… especially if Eli is over or anyone other than mommy is in the house. I am convinced she thinks she is missing out and wakes up early from naps if anyone is over visiting or if Eli is over for his play date! Luckily today she reverted back to her old ways and napped on our morning jog and then she gave me a 2 hour nap this afternoon. What did I do with my two hour break? Watch the Bachelor? No! Listen to Dr. Laura’s podcast? No! Sit on the balcony overlooking the ocean and catch up on my James Patterson book? No! I pureed my little heart out! I have been so busy moving and enjoying this beautiful weather that I got pretty behind on my  baby-food making. I spent the whole 2 hours (and then some!) pureeing apples, blueberries, turkey, peas, and carrots. Pureeing might sound easy and quick, but the lengthy part of the process is steaming the veggies/fruits. Luckily my baeba does it all in the same unit! The meat, however, I have to cook first! After I pureed my heart out I prepped dinner for my hardworking husband so that when he got home he could relax with a glass of wine and an enjoyable dinner! So, we might not have done a whole lot in the past two days, but we certainly kept busy!

Here are some highlights of Kayden and her BF Eli. Notice how they are holding hands… again! These babes just love to hold hands!!

We have had a great week together so far.. now it’s back to work for this part-time working mommy!
