Now that we are getting on a sleep routine, I am trying to see if there is a pattern in her napping. The books say that you’re supposed to let the baby set the routine and then you just try and make it consistent for them. I know I keep referring to books, but they are my jumping off point. Since I have never done this and know nothing about little humans, I need a reference point. From the books I take what works, make modifications to fit our family, and then throw the rest out! So far it’s been a work in progress. Naps happen at her whim right now and that seems to be just fine! A sleeping baby is a happy baby!

For the past two nights Kayden has been going on a 6 hour stretch from her final feeding at night to the first one in the middle of the night. Her pattern was to get up at 12 am and 3 am. The last two nights she got up at 2 am for her first feeding. On Monday she only woke up once! Last night she woke up again at 4:15 and that’s just too early to start the day! So far, I think we are on the right path to start sleeping through the night. The books say that once they go 6 hours that it’s considered sleeping through the night. We go to bed at 7:30 in our house, so waking up at  1:30 doesn’t feel like “sleeping through the night”. Either way, the long stretches are great for me and a happy mommy makes a happy house!

Now that the weather is finally nice out, Kayden can wear her cute clothes! She is now officially in 3 month clothing, which means she can start wearing her dresses… and bows!! I have to admit, I haven’t been very good about making her wear her bows, but I have every intention of starting to!

Kayden is now 11 weeks old and we’re seeing new developments all the time. She is smiling so much now and it’s getting easier and easier to make her smile. We think she is on the verge of laughing! She gets these huge grins and we can see both top and bottom gums, it’s really sweet! Makes us laugh out loud!

Along with the smiles, Kayden now likes to play. Well not really play, but it’s taking more and more of an effort for me to entertain her. Where before she use to sleep all day, now when she is awake she needs my attention and just talking to her isn’t enough. Nam has been so great and bought her soft rattles. Her arms move so fast it’s like she’s going to take off! So when she is able to start grasping things, she’ll need soft toys so she doesn’t knock herself out! She still loves her activity mat although I usually have to be on the floor next to her so that I can jiggle the hanging toys. As promised, here are pics of her activity mat!

Kayden is now 10 weeks old and we have all started to notice that she’s starting to notice things. 🙂 Nam and I went to Babies R Us today and got Kayden her first toys. We got her an activity mat and some soft toys that make noise. We couldn’t believe how much she seemed to enjoy the activity mat! At 10 weeks old it’s hard to tell what she’s thinking at all… ever! But when I put her on the mat she was all smiles! She accidentally grabbed some toys and got stuck, but she didn’t seem to mind! She likes the musical toy too. We are excited for the days of playing with toys to come!

* Pics of Activity Mat to follow… We are having server issues, but there are lots of cute ones! *
