Today Kayden and I had a relatively uneventful day. Her day started with some quality bonding time with Papa, which I so appreciate. When Papa comes over he takes her for walks, talks to her about the ways of the world, and she just enjoys being spoiled. Then she went with me for a run at the beach. Next, Mimi came over to get her fix! Us three girls caught up on the Bachelorette finally (I knew she’d pick Roberto, but as hoping for Chris!). We had a few informal photo shoots while she slept. I happen to think she’s very cute when she naps! We ended the day with dinner at the local hamburger shop. Kayden walked with Papa home. All in all, Kayden had a great day with the grandparents… And me too!

Since Kayden hasn’t been to the doctor since her two week check-up we don’t really know how much she has grown. At the doctor’s office they do a naked weight. At the Hatcher house we are much more scientific! I step on the scale, look at the number with horror, then step back on the scale with Kayden. I take the weight with Kayden and subtract my weight to find her unofficial weight. We did this unfortunate process this morning and without revealing my number, Kayden weighs 10 pounds! This is unofficial for many reasons, but nonetheless we know Kayden has put on some serious pounds.
With her recent weight gain, I think I can officially say that Kayden has outgrown her new born clothes. Today I went to put on a onesie and I couldn’t fit it over her head. I had a feeling this day was coming, but I am excited to say it is finally here! I am excited because her 0-3 month clothing is so much cuter than her new born stuff! It is sad though because I have a lot of onesies that she has never worn and even more that she has only worn once! I guess if baby #2 (no we’re not pregnant!) is a girl, she’ll have a lot of new-ish clothing!

Today was uneventful, but I always find a minute for a photo shoot! I was trying to capture the perfect picture of Kayden to send Scotty to motivate him to hurry home. I think I finally captured it with the last one!

Never have I been more tied to a schedule as I am now with an infant. No longer can I hop in the car and run to the mall or post office, for example. I need to first think, when did Kayden eat last? When does she need to eat again? Has she pooped recently? Has she napped recently? Each of these events will dictate whether my outing is pleasant or extremely stressful. I should mention that things not going exactly as planned, is stressful for me. I’m a type of control freak I guess. There is no control with an infant I am learning! Now, back to the whole schedule thing. It extends beyond going to the mall or post office; it influences when I go on my morning run, when I take a shower, when I walk the dogs, when I do the dishes, and so you get the idea. I am normally a very regimented person who can respect time lines, but this kid’s time line is tight! She still eats every three hours and feeding her takes upwards of 30 minutes. Then comes the diaper change, which can lead to two changes if she isn’t quite ‘done’ when I start the first changing. And then we burp. So the whole process takes about 45 minutes, which significantly impacts the amount of time I have to get things done, because heaven forbid I feed or change her outside of the house! I’m still not comfortable with that. I look forward to the days that she has a sippy cup and those little cups of food that have the tops that allow things in but can’t spill. I like a clean house and things done on my time… I guess I need to get use to living outside of the box….

Papa made his first trip to California since Kayden’s arrival. I know he has been waiting so patiently for an opportunity to come meet his first granddaughter. As with all the other men in her life, we think she’s got him wrapped around her little fingers.
