Today we hit record breaking heat- 91 degrees! Now I find it funny because when it’s cold we complain because it isn’t California weather. Now that it is finally hot, we run inside, close the shades, and gripe about the heat! I am one that says ‘bring it on’! I am so ready for the summer weather to come. Now, I know we could really use the rain but since I can’t control that, I’ll just enjoy the sun!

This weekend we enjoyed a bike ride at the beach and a day on the boat. Since our bragging via Facebook we have filled up the boat with friends for this upcoming weekend. We really do have a great location here. Many people travel far and spend loads to get to the coast of California. We are so lucky to be here in Oceanside. The town is coming along and we are getting more and more great restaurants that we are not embarrassed to bring friends to.

So, for today, let’s enjoy the sun and be happy for all that we have! Cheers!

Stay-cation is a popular term for those of us who can’t afford vacations or just don’t want to take them. Scotty and I were VERY lucky enough to take a cruise this Spring Break. We are also very lucky to have time to recoup (7 blocks from the beach!) before it’s back to work. *Scotty went back to work on Friday* Today we had one of the best days whether-wise in Oceanside. We are finally approaching Spring weather. We both got up early and Scotty went surfing while I worked out in our state-of-the-art gym in our extra bedroom. We both also worked on school work and had a great lunch at home before heading out on the town. We grabbed our bikes, pumped up the tires, and headed out. What is one thing we didn’t do? Put on sunscreen! We rode our bikes down on the boardwalk and then headed for margaritas at the new restaurant in town. The bike ride was awesome (see pic above). In Oceanside any sign of sun results in a jam-packed beach! We don’t care though because that just means we have lots to look at. We went to the Sunset Market and checked out some cool artwork and then went to people watch. The new restaurant we had margaritas at is a rather large place. We were able to sit on the top and enjoy the sun. The weather was perfect but Scotty and I are gringos who have not really been in the sun this season. Remember the cruise had cold weather on one of the days. We both have super rad farmer’s tans but are appreciative of the daily festivities we can enjoy from our home. We are currently at home with sleeping pugs and our laptops on our lap!

So everyone who reads this blog knows my husband and knows him well. He is at the top of technology and keeps me updated on what’s hot (i.e. I was first in line for an iPhone the day it came out!). He reminds me of the new toys that I just have to have. I must admit though, he makes great recommendations! ANYWAY, he has turned me on to Twitter. This is a new program that allows me to ‘follow’ people. I am currently following Ashton Kutcher (aplusk in the pic above), Ellen Digenerous (I know I spelled that wrong), Demi Moore, P Ditty, Oprah, etc. So these people (or their people’s people) update Twitter regularly. I get to keep up on what interviews they are doing and what’s basically going on in their day. For those who know (and LOVE) me know that I like to keep up with celebs. Now that I am on Twitter I feel like our relationship is finally two-sided!

Scotty and I just returned from an amazing four day cruise. We went to Catalina island on the first day. We wanted to rent a golf cart and explore the island. All of the places were asking for about $60 for an hour. That was a little pricey for our taste (OK, maybe just mine!). As we were strolling along the street a man offered us $20 to rent a cart for an hour. He told us to round a corner and wait for him there. A little shady, but we decided what the heck let’s save a buck (OK, maybe just me again!). Anyway the man rented us his personal golf cart which backfired constantly throughout our excursion. We scared small children riding bikes and countless tourists enjoying quiet walks among the shops. We won’t get into Scotty’s fear of loud noises! After our morning trip to Catalina we went back to the ship and enjoyed a day on the back of the ship with a cool bucket (or 2) of beer!

Day 2 we went to Ensanada. We were one of the first few off the ship and immediately went to Papas and Beer. The beer and tequila was cheap, so a good time was had by all! We met a very nice couple at dinner the night before. For those who have not been on a cruise, they pair you up with like-minded people. Families are put with families and rowdy young 20-somethings are put with each other in the back near the kitchen. Our dinner companions were a good fit! We hung out with them at Papas and Beer and had a great time.

Day 3 was a day at sea. Unfortunately, the night before we hit some pretty gnarly turbulence at sea. The ship was rocking and although the sun was out, it was very chilly. This apparently does not faze children! Give them a pool with a slide and it doesn’t matter what the weather is! We stayed bundled up out in the sun and had a relaxing day.

Today we got off the ship and are wondering why we keep walking into walls. No, it’s not because we are detoxing from a great vacation! We are hopefully getting rid of our sea legs. Good thing I have four more days of Spring Break to recover from my vacation with a stay-cation!!

Keep checking for pics in our photo gallery!

At about 11:00 am today I got a buzz from my iChat. I turn on the iChat to see my husband in bed. A little alarmed by this (he should be working!!!) I ask him if he is taking a midday nap. He tells me that he is having difficulty holding anything down. My poor husband does not handle being sick too kindly. Anyone with a husband knows that men are tough patients. Unfortunately, I am not there to take care of poor Scotty. We are hoping he makes a speedy recovery so that he can get back to his 12 hour days. Wait did I just say that?? :o) I mean, I hope he feels better soon so he can get on a plane and come home already!!
