Sisters. They love each other. They fight with each other. They play with each other. They take from each other. They do it all!! Now that Kayden is in school full time and has been for some time, it’s fun to see her relationship change with Kloey. People ask me if Kloey misses Kayden when she is at school. The answer is yes. At first I thought she didn’t really care too much because she and I were keeping busy and doing fun things just us. Then I changed her nap schedule so that she could go with me to pick up Kayden (rather than nap at home while I ran to pick up Kayden on the days Scotty worked at home). When I pick up Kayden, Kloey RUNS to get her. Kayden will jump up and give Kloey a big hug and drag her around to play with her friends. They give each other big hugs (and even kisses!) every day. My heart melts as I watch their eyes light up when the first see each other at pick up. Truly warms my heart! Most days after school we go to the park. I watch the girls run around and play with other kids. I usually have to pry them from the park so we can go home and make dinner/do homework. I love to watch them play together and meet new friends together! Sisters. Are times always perfect? No. But are things going well today? Yes!! Love my girls!!
Anniversary
Today is our 8 year anniversary!! So many things have happened over the past 8 years that have molded and shaped our marriage. In the 8 years married (12 years together!) we have grown in so many ways. We were 22/23 years old when we met and here we are in our mid-thirties. We have two beautiful girls that are a sign of our love and commitment to each other. We have been together for what feels like forever (in a good way, of course!), but I am so excited to look forward to what will come for our marriage and family in the future. Scotty, I love you more than I could express in words. Thank you for choosing me and being a wonderful husband and father. Love you!!
Me and Miss Personality
So now that Kayden has been in school for two and a half weeks, Kloey and I have started to settle in to our new routine. On Mondays and Wednesdays she is continuing with swim lessons. We generally spend Monday doing chores to make up for the weekend and on Wednesdays we add in Ballet/Tap class, so those days are packed! On Tuesdays we have gymnastics and Thursdays are generally reserved for picnics at the park. On Friday, we’ll go do something fun with Mimi and then I run all of the errands I didn’t do during the week while Kloey goes to Mimi’s for a nap. Because what three year old wants to run errands all day with mom?? Not mine! So that’s our schedule! I have to say that I am genuinely enjoying my days with with just Kloey. I was a little weary about how Kloey and I would fill our days without the distraction of Kayden. They play together a lot and I was mentally preparing to become Kloey’s new BFF and have to play with her all day. But instead, I decided to fill her days with classes and activities, which she LOVES! That girl has so much personality, she takes over her ballet and gymnastics classes. She talks to the teachers while they are teaching the class. She runs her own swim lesson and she tells the teacher what they are going to work on and when. And when it’s just her and I, she sings, tells stories, asks questions, and talks. All. Day. Long. I can honestly say it is quite humorous to just sit and listen to her. For example, she will go into a full on story about a Bumble Bee she met at Nam’s. She’ll go into great details about the conversation she had with the Bee, where she was at, and she’ll recite dialogue (with intonation!) that she had with the Bee. I absolutely love it!! Now, once Kayden gets home I get a DOUBLE dose of talking. So we’re working on Mommy’s ability to hear and respond to two children at the SAME time. Working on it!!
The first week of Kindergarten has come and gone! I’d like to say it’s gone by quickly, but it really hasn’t. The week seemed to crawl by for me. I kept thinking, ‘She has to go to school AGAIN?!’ Luckily, I was the only one feeling that way. After the first day of school Kayden told me that she ‘feels comfortable at school already’. I had mentioned to her that being nervous on the first day of school is okay and that in time she will feel confident and comfortable going to school. I am so thrilled that each and every morning as we climbed the stairs to her classroom, she would turn to me and tell me she was so excited to be at school! This is a complete 180 from last year. Not to say her teacher is any better/different, but I honestly think it’s the consistency of going every day and also some maturity on her part, as well. She is playing with her friends, raising her hand in class, and thriving all around. I am so so so happy that Kindergarten is off to a great start!! As we both take this new journey, I imagine I will be doing many blogs on what new adventures she is having at school. Stay tuned!
Birthday Bash in PS
Every year I manage to convince Scotty to take the family to Palm Springs. Yes, in August. Yes, in the hottest month on record for Palm Springs! I don’t know why, but I love Palm Springs in the summer!! It was over 100 degrees each day, but it wasn’t a problem at all! We were either in the pool or 8,500+ feet up on the mountain. We managed to stay cool! We had such a fun vacation! We swam, went down water slides, hung out with Scooter the tortoise, ate too much junk, went on evening runs on the golf course, lounged in our Villa, took the air tram up the mountain and “hiked” all around (i.e. Scotty carried Kloey, and Kayden was more interested in stopping for a snack!), watched a movie in the pool, swam, and swam some more!! Thanks to my beautiful family for making yet another memorable birthday for me!!
