I take after my mother in that I celebrate all holidays via table clothes, dishtowels, soap dispensers, and random knickknacks.

I just love the feeling of fall because it means celebrating a new season, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and then eventually Christmas – all back to back!! I know I have a long way to go, but I love having a themed house!

Well, apparently I am not the only one who loves to decorate. My dear husband has been talking about having yard art since the day we signed the lease on this house. Luckily, I was able to negotiate with him and we agreed on only one piece of yard art per year. We went to Lowes and there was a plethora of deocrations to choose from. I, personally, wanted a big purple spider with a red belly that sat peacefully on the lawn. Scotty, on the other hand, couldn’t decide between the creep tree and the ominous horse and headless horseman. I decided to let Scotty chose which yard art he wanted because clearly he was more interested in the display than me! Well folks, this is what he chose!

Is there ANY wonder why Kayden cries when she looks out the window and says “that tree is scary!!”?? Good choice on our first yard art, dear!! There’s always next year!!

I can’t believe my darling Kloey is already 4 months old! As she is getting older we are noticing that life is somewhat returning to a new normal. She is learning and growing so quickly that at times I find myself wishing she would slow down. Knowing that Miss Kloey is the fourth and final member of our family, I am finding that I’m holding on and savoring each new milestone she is reaching. She might as well be my first child with how much I dote on her and how excited I get when she does something new! Okay, enough bragging. Here are Kloey’s stats:

Height – 25.5 inches — 91%

Weight – 15 lbs 4 oz — 75%

Head Circumference – 41.5 cm — 75%

Kloey loves her activity mat, the swing, and being held by mommy. Surprisingly, she likes tummy time and has excellent head control. We just put her in the Bumba seat for the first time and she did great! She still loves the Bjorn, but I finally do not have to wear it around the house! Kloey is becoming more independent and willing to sit in her infant seat. Kloey eats every three hours and sleeps 10 hours at night. She reaches for objects on her activity mat and can grasp objects briefly in her hand – she sometimes gets frustrated because once she grabs an object she has a hard time letting it go. Kloey laughs, squeals, babbles, and has expressive conversations. She turns her head to familiar voices and sounds. She can follow moving objects and can raise her head and chest when she is on her tummy. Kloey has rolled over a handful of times.

In Kloey’s future is an introduction to solids! She loves to watch me eat and me eating has been known to stop her from crying! She is able to sit in her Bumba seat with little support and will open her mouth when a spoon is held to her lips. All signs are pointing to the fact that Miss Kloey is ready to eat! Her pediatrician says any time is an okay time to start introducing solids. In fact, Kayden started rice cereal at this very time and we didn’t break her, so we think we’ll try with Kloey too! Stay tuned for her first rice cereal experience!

Before we even had children, Scotty and I agreed NO CATS! This might seem ironic because technically I still have one cat living with my parents that my father has frequently threatened to return to me! The cat is now a little senile and is best served at Mimi and Grampy’s ;). Kayden has always been a little girl who just LOVES kitties. She loves Maica’s hairless cat and if she can love that thing, we know she has a real passion for the felines! When we moved into our house the owners told us that they had taken in a wild cat (named Super Kitty), but that they were taking him with them to their new house in Fallbrook. We were a little bummed because an outdoor kitty would be perfect – we could enjoy her when she rolled in and not worry about ‘taking care’ of the cat. Well a few months ago Scotty, who works in the backyard essentially, noticed that a cat was hanging out at different times each day. Oh, I should mention now that Scotty was more adamant that we don’t get a cat because of his ‘allergies’. Okay, let’s continue. So the cat started showing up more and more each day. We weren’t sure if she was wild or if she was domesticated but just liked to roam the neighborhood. Scotty had seen her hunting and we’re pretty sure she put a poor injured birdy out of his misery (RIP Luis!). She looked a little tattered and she did not fear the dogs, so we thought she just might be wild (well, as wild as a cat can be living in a neighborhood!). A few weeks go by and we make contact. The kitty lets us pet her and hangs around a little longer each day. A few more weeks go by and we decide the kitty needs some food and a name – Kitty Kitty Meow Meow. A few more weeks go by and we are now feeding the cat and she lets Scotty pick her up! Yes, I said Scotty! He carries her around the backyard like it’s his beloved pet! 😉 I have assured everyone that the cat is NOT allowed in the office or the house – she is NOT our cat! I think I am becoming the one who is holding firm to our original agreement: NO CATS!! Watch the video below to see where we are now with this “wild” cat!

The only good thing about summer ending is that the Charger season returns. When did I become a big NFL fan, you ask? Yeah, I’m not. I do did enjoy watching the Chargers, but now that I have kids I can honestly say that I have not seen a Charger game in at least two seasons! Now I enjoy the Charger season for the adult interactions among our friends with kids the same ages as ours. It’s nice to have an excuse to get together. The men watch the game while the women chase the kids and attempt to get a conversation in! Good Luck Chargers!! How about we make it to the play offs this year!!

I went back into the archives to answer the one consistent question I am asked: Does Kloey look like Kayden as a baby? When Kloey was first born I found myself saying yes. As she is getting older (she’s a ripe old age of 3 months now!), I really don’t think they look alike. Here is the side by side comparison of both girls at 3 months old.
