For Christmas I got Scotty a Go Pro camera that he can mount to his surfboard. The camera is pretty cool because he can take it out into the water and it allows me to see up close just how awesome of a surfer my hubby is! 😉 He takes film while he is out surfing and then he gets home and edits it. It’s really neat because I’ve also been able to watch our nephews, Jake and Ian, learn to surf too.

Here is one of the first videos Scotty took with his Go Pro surf cam. Click the image to view the video. 🙂

Today Kayden and I headed up to Orange County for some girl time with Kim and Stephanie and their girls. It’s funny, the primary purpose of wanting to get together was for us girls to catch up and just hang out. With our four girls (all under the age of 3) on the lose, much of our conversations were halted due to a scream, giggle, bump, fall, or someone’s child repeatedly saying ‘Mommy, Mommy, Mommy, Mommy!’. We did have a good time though watching our girls interact and play together!

We started our play date with a little snack. After a small fire in the kitchen, lunch was delayed. Kim, I’m sure the homemade pot pie would have been a delicious lunch, but pizza is always a great back up option!

The snack only slightly took the edge off; the kids needed some apple sauce to keep them occupied until lunch came. I’m not sure what Kim was thinking when she pulled out the picnic table and handed each child a cup of apple sauce. My child, for one, has not yet mastered the act of self-feeding with her own utensil and her own cup of anything! By the end of this course, her pants were drenched in the pre-lunch treat! After apple sauce came the pizza. Most of the girls were able to eat the slice on their own, but Kayden preferred that I cut it! I’d like to say that this course kept her clean, but unfortunately her nice white top was multi-colored by the end of the feeding frenzie!

After lunch was play time. The kids managed to transfer nearly every toy from the play room downstairs to several other rooms in the house. We did the same damage to the upstairs!

Several times throughout the play date we tried to get all four princesses together for a group shot. I am (not)proud to say that Kayden was the diva of each shoot. She did not want to stop playing and take a photo, no matter how many Mommies were jumping up and waving toys to make her happy!

Thanks Kim for hosting a great girl visit!! We had such a great time hanging out and messing up your house! 😉 Can’t wait until next time!! 🙂

The Hatchers had one amazing Christmas this year!! The festivities started on Christmas Eve. We headed to my Aunt Pam and Uncle John’s for a traditional Christmas Eve party. We had a great time catching up with my dad’s side of the family. It seems that every time I see my cousins they always look like they’ve gotten so old. Sure makes me feel old! I imagine that my relatives seeing me with a child makes them feel the same way! Of course we forgot the camera on Christmas Eve so we only caught one photo of Kayden with Mimi, and Great Grandma Honey.

Christmas day was so great! Santa came and brought a few special treats for Kayden. Unfortunately, Kayden opened her doll first and was not too interested in opening anything else! She got a few dolls and a Barbie Quad. The quad looked like a good idea… I’ll let you know when she’s not scared of it any more and will actually sit on it!

After we opened presents and got all cleaned up, we headed to MImi and Grampy’s house to continue the celebration. Kayden got so many awesome gifts! She got dolls, Hello Kitty make-up, Hello Kitty jewelry, fancy shoes, fancy clothes, and art supplies! Wow, she really made out big! Scotty and I also got some pretty awesome gifts from my family! I’m surprised we fit everything in the car!

After Kayden opened gifts and took a short nap, the party arrived!

Kim brought her girls, Addison (2 1/2) and Reese (15 months). Kayden had such a great time playing and running around after them! It was so strange how obsessed Kayden was with Addison. At one point she was chasing Addison around the house while both girls ran giggling! Reese was attached to her Mommy and eventually warmed up and joined in with the girls. They went on a boat ride and waved to Santa on the roof and talked to the ducks. Such a good time!

We just had to get a few shots of the four generations: Great Grandpa (Papa), Great Grandma (Grandma Honey), Grandpa (Grampy/Gamp), Grandma (Mimi), Dad (Scotty), Mom (Tiff), and Baby (Kayden!)

The day after Christmas we had a Hatcher family Christmas. Scotty’s sister Kelly came over with her two boys (Jake 13 and Ian 11). We set up iChat with Nam and Papa and had a great time laughing and opening up presents. After we destroyed the living room, spoiled yet again!, we spent the day playing with our gifts and cooking (okay, I admit it- Kelly did all of the cooking! ;))

Wow, what an amazing Christmas!!! We are so incredibly lucky to have such loving and generous families. We were happy to spend Christmas with both sides of the family!! Thank you so much to our incredible families for making this Christmas so special for our little family! 🙂

The other day I was thinking, I’m pretty sure that 18 months old is the best it’s going to get. I think Kayden is at the all time perfect age! She can communicate… but she can’t talk back. She is mobile… but she’s not a risk taker. In fact, i can leave her on the counter or at the top of the stairs and not worry she’ll go tumbling down. I wouldn’t do these things, but I know I could! She’s in love with me and follows me around the house. She laughs at my jokes and let’s me tickle her. She has the most infectious laugh!! She plays with the dogs… and they don’t mind her chasing after them with their bone screaming and running after them! She remembers everyone in our family and shows a unique affection for each and every person. She is absolutely at the best age ever!!

One of Kayden’s obsessions right now is make up. I have to sit on the floor when I put my face on and Kayden rummages through my pathetic stash of make up and has so much fun! She absolutely loves ‘lipstick’, which is a tasty chapstick. She gets very upset when I have to take it away because it’s in her eye brows and all across her face! Her new need is to sit in my lap while I am putting my face on. This honestly adds about 30 minutes to my mourning routine, but I think it’s sweet!

Well, it all started with a wardrobe malfunction. Let me start at the beginning. Kayden has a wardrobe fit for a princess, for sure. She has dresses, jeans, tu-tus, lace, spandex, glitter, boots, etc. etc. etc.! She has so many dresses, but unfortunately they are summer dresses and not appropriate for her winter pictures with Santa Clause! I had my eye on a few cute little holiday dresses at Target that were really cute, but I never quite talked myself into purchasing any of them. Last weekend I realized that I was up against the clock if I was going to have Kayden meet Santa. I decided to go pick up one of the dresses that caught my eye. To my complete surprise, Target was totally picked through!! 🙁 I ended up going for what I thought was a cute gray sweater dress, white tights (her first pair!) and some black dressy shoes. When I got home I left the dress on it’s hanger and put it in the closet until today. I really have to mentally prepare to brave the crowds and stand in line for what I know will end up in tears- hers or mine is always the question though! So after I am showered and everything is ready to be packed into the car, I put Kayden in her new dress. And this was my surprise:

Kayden fits right in with the Golden Girls!!

It didn’t matter, I was on a mission to see Santa! So floor length sweater dress or not, we were going to see that man!! We made it to the mall at 10:30 and I swear there were less than 10 kids in front of us, but it took us over an hour to meet Mr. Clause! I should mention that as we stood second in line he decided to do a brief wave to all of the children before he disappeared to take his 20 minute break! That was a lot of fun for Kayden because she got to show off her sweater ensamble to EVERYONE in line. A proud moment for her mother, that’s for sure!

After Santa returned from his break Kayden waved to him and giggled as we waited the last few minutes before it was sure to be our turn. Once we were up I told the girl, no older than 16 years old, that Kayden was going to freak out and that she would need to snap that camera as fast as she could! Santa sweetly pats his right leg to signal to me where to put Kayden. As his hand slowly rises and falls on his leg Kayden’s grip on my arm fastens tighter than she has ever gripped me before! I peeled her off of me, set her on Santa, and ran out of the shot!

Sweeter dress- $15. Tights- $5. Dressy shoes that click when she walks- $16. Kayden’s candid response to the jolly man that does nothing but bring presents and joy to children each Christmas- PRICELESS!!

Good thing her recovery time is pretty quick because we had some shopping to do after this traumatic experience! A candy cane was all this little lady needed!

Santa might have been terrifying this year, but fingers crossed that next year Kayden will be a little more accepting!
