Here are few highlights from this week’s baby duty! As usual Eli was an explorer and checked out every crevice of the condo. And Kayden continued to send Eli out to go fetch her treats and toys! All in all we had a great day together!

The morning started out with a little exploring. The toys look completely different when placed in a different room!

And here is the immediate result of Kayden’s shrieks. I think anyone who has a baby girl or who has spent ANY time with one knows that little girls like to scream. They scream when they are happy and they scream when they want something. They scream when they are mad. They scream when they are tired, sad, upset, excited, joyful, irritable, playful, and the list could go on forever! Eli, such a boy, does NOT like screaming! Every time Kayden let out a shriek Eli would stop what he was doing, drop his toy, and immediately crawl into my lap. He would sit in my lap and give me this face! So dramatic Eli! 😉

Once we got the screaming under control it was time to rehydrate- the vocal cords and the tear ducts!

After a little mid-mornings snack it was time to take a nap. Both kiddos slept for about an hour and then we hit the neighborhood for a pre-lunch walk.

And then we finished the morning with crawling practice… we didn’t get too far!

With the school year winding down, we each have one more baby duty on the books. I can’t believe the school year has come and gone so quickly! This time last year I was very pregnant and about to give birth the most amazing baby girl! What a difference a year makes!!

One day last week I checked in on Kayden during one of her naps from work (I can view her on the surveillance crib cam from my iPhone). I was completely shocked when I saw her sleeping on her belly! This is my child who wants NOTHING to do with tummy time; she JUST learned to roll onto her belly about 2 weeks ago; and she loves looking at her mobile! I couldn’t believe Kayden was choosing to be on her belly… especially during a relaxed sleeping time! Either way it freaked me out because we all know babies aren’t supposed to sleep on their tummies. I had read somewhere, however, that once babies roll over and choose to sleep on their bellies that we should go ahead and let them sleep. That reading was a few months ago, so it wasn’t a fresh thought in my brain when I first saw her! From that day on Kayden has been put in her crib on her back and then somehow wakes up on her belly! I seem to watch her a little closer at nap time and check the cam more frequently throughout the night! I’m sure this is just one of the many new changes (that will scare Mommy) to come!

Maica loaded the babies up with lots of snacks, toys, and a tent and headed to the beach! Kayden had never been in the sand before so of course her first instinct was to taste it. Eli got to feel the ocean water tickle his toes while Kayden took her afternoon nap. [sthumbs=3913|3914|3908|3911,288,1,n,center,]
As always the babies had a great day with Maica… she always does fun things– lunch dates, beach walks, dress up, fine dinning sessions, etc. etc. etc.!! I should mention, however, that Kris was present to help this beach field trip run smoothly! 😉

Wow, how vacations have changed! Scotty and I hit the road with the Petersons and headed to Palm Springs for a much needed vacation! The weather was perfect- in the 90s- and the weekend was so relaxing. The boys went shopping (supposedly for food, but came back with more toys than food), which was a very bad idea. Why is every man a big kid at heart??

And of course they did buy food…. but only the ‘important things’.

Meanwhile, Maica and I were on baby duty at the house… we just couldn’t wait for the boys and their 2 hour shopping spree, so we it the pool!

Once the boys got home we had some great pool time! The babies were great all weekend. They still went down for naps and slept through the night (even though they were in a new environment!).

We had such a great weekend that coming back home was very hard! Luckily, Maica and I only have 2 weeks left of work and then we are off for the summer!! Thanks Petersons for a great vacation!!

Kayden loves toys that rattle. She loves toys that light up. She loves toys that move. You’d think with all this love of toys that we wouldn’t have to entertain her with non-toy items. Wrong! She gets bored with everything and would much rather play with household items than any old toy. And I’m pretty sure most babies are on the same page as Kayden!

This video captures Kayden and Scotty playing with a prescription bottle. I know, I know, I KNOW, that a prescription bottle is not safe for babies, BUT she was closely monitored. You can see from the video that Scotty probably learned his lesson about letting his child play with a prescription bottle!
