Today Scotty and I went up to Yorba Linda to celebrate Uncle Jer’s birthday. What a great (and unnecessary) excuse to get together with the family! For whatever reason, Mimi felt like we needed birthday hats to celebrate. We all wore our hats during the whole dinner. Wow! Kayden did NOT like her hat on the first attempt, but after she had some food she was more willing to go along with the whole idea. Happy Birthday Uncle Jer! We had a great time showing you all the new and fun things that Kayden is doing- including sitting by herself and and playing!! 🙂

Mimi, where’s YOUR hat?!

Here are just a few shots of Kayden playing with her Auntie Katrina.

Here’s what happens when the boys are left in charge… they put her in front of the iPad. I’m not saying she objected, but seriously boys?!

All-in-all we had a great time. Thanks for the chuckles!

I can’t believe the weather we have been having for the past week or so! The sun is out and it’s actually warm! Good thing, because Kayden got some really cute summery outfits that she couldn’t fit in over the summer, but she certainly does now! Not to mention the hats! Since moving to the model home we have been taking full advantage of the weather by sitting out on our balconies. We have the top floor balcony that has a beautiful view of the ocean that we use mostly around sunset. We also have the downstairs balcony that has two doors that both open allowing in the soft breeze and warm temperature. We are so lucky to be having this weather this time of year. We are even luckier that we are getting to experience it at the beach! Here are some highlights of Kayden enjoying the weather!

We are definitely taking advantage of the bob stroller during this great weather. I love our long walks!

Today we went out on the grass in front of our place and had a pretend picnic! We even met some new doggies that live close by. Kayden wasn’t scared at all and welcomed the strange kisses!

Today I was on baby duty with Kayden and Eli. I have to say they had a good day. With each day that I watch them it seems to get a little bit easier. They are starting to establish a routine and that makes me happy! I actually got them both to take their two naps at the same time. Unfortunately the naps didn’t last too long. One baby always woke up a little too early. Fortunately we have the bob stroller in the house and that seems to be the napping preference for both babies! The afternoon nap- my guarantee 2 hour sanity check- ended a little early when Eli realized he really didn’t want to be napping on the strange bed. I rocked him and then thought I’d try putting him in the bob (it has been a known success in previous baby duties). I rocked him back and forth maybe 5 times before he fell asleep. I wheeled him down the hallway and he slept for the next hour. That was right about the time Kayden woke up! With the staggering naps I only got 30 minutes of joint baby napping, but I did get to spend some good quality one-on-one time with both babes as their naps seemed to separate! Here are a few shots of our day today:

Eli was the first to go down for the morning nap

We just needed to get out for a stroll around the complex. Eli is in the Bjorn because he weighs a little less than Kayden- easier on my back!

Play time after lunch!

We love to sit up and play!! Kayden is so good at sitting up and hardly ever falls over… well, I should put a disclaimer on that. She hardly falls over because I am usually sitting right next to her or she is sitting between my legs on the floor. She is pretty great when she does fall over though- as long as she doesn’t hit the remote control laying on the floor next to her! It’s so neat to see her sitting on the floor by herself and reaching out for toys. She gets a little excited sometimes and reaches forward and slowly falls forward as she is reaching. I’m so proud of my little bug for mastering the sitting and playing position! She is learning how to entertain herself, although she always prefers Mommy to entertain her! Way to master another milestone Kayden… is it time to walk yet?!

Here are some shots of Kayden learning to sit! By the way, she is helping me type this blog right now. She is pretty amused by the mouse and loves to pound the keyboard like Mommy!

Kayden wore her new kicks for the first time this week. The picture is not to scale… her feet are definitely not this big!

Kayden spent the day with Eli today. Here are their highlights!

There are certain times of the day that are my favorite when it comes to Kayden. My first favorite time of day is when she wakes up in the morning. She is so awesome and will wake up and spend about 20 minutes playing by herself in her crib. She has even learned how to turn on the mobile! I have to admit, I thought this place was haunted for a few weeks because I couldn’t understand how the mobile turned on in the middle of the night (per Jill’s observation from the east coast) and during nap time. Turns out Miss Kayden has a good left kick to the mobile! I definitely love any time she is waking up- unless it’s with a startle or when I haven’t made it upstairs to her nursery fast enough! My next most favorite time of the day is when I am putting her to sleep. It’s not because it means that I have relief or because I get to kick back with my feet up with a glass of wine. The reason I love bed time is because my sweet baby is so affectionate when she is getting her final feeding of the day. She rubs my leg, she rubs my neck and chest, and she looks at me with such sweet eyes. I know she is tactile right now and just loves the texture of my ‘velour’ sweats or t-shirt, but it’s still is so sweet.  Two of the sweetest parts of a baby are her hands and feet. The tiny fingers, the pudgy palms, and the cute little nails that grow way too fast are just amazing! I look at Kayden every day and think how blessed I am to have her as my daughter. She has known me long enough to know that I need a schedule! Thank you Kayden for establishing your morning (1-2 hour) and afternoon (2 hours) naps!! I love that you understand me and we understand each other!!

Here are a few candid shots of Kayden from the week so far. 🙂

In the last two pictures Kayden is eating a Mum Mum. Maica introduced us to these. They are little rice cakes for babies and well (surprisingly) Kayden loves them! Who-da thought Kayden would love a new food?! 😉 These new treats are great for when she’s fussy or when her teethies are starting to bother her! Thanks Maica for the great find! 🙂
