Today Kayden met Santa Clause for the first time! She did really well! I’m not surprised really. She is easy to make smile and she is pretty easy going when other people hold her. Unfortunately, she woke up only minutes before I plopped her on the strange man’s lap. She didn’t cry, but she wouldn’t smile either. Usually she smiles immediately when she sees the flash of a camera (probably because I am constantly shoving one in her face), but today she was in rare form. She was still very sleep, but at least she wasn’t crying!

Scotty has been out of town this week so Kayden asked if she could wear an ‘I love Daddy’ shirt.

Here is princess sleeping in this morning… in mommy’s bed. Why? Because she woke up at 1:30 am and wanted to sing and dance. And she did… until 5:00 am when she finally crashed… so did mommy!

Thank goodness she woke up happy! No matter how tired I am, when I see this smile I melt.

This week Kayden turned 6 months big! Scotty and I agree, who ever says the time flies by is lying! The past six months have been absolutely wonderful, but I sure don’t think the time zoomed by. Scotty explained it by saying that we have seen more hours of the day in the past six months than we ever have in the past. I have seen every hour of the night come and go…. and not so quickly! Now that my princess is sleeping 11 hours a night and taking a 2 hour nap in the afternoon, all is right in the world! Here are just a few of my favorite pictures of Kayden’s growth! I know the first six months haven’t flown by, but I really believe the next six will!

Here is her birthday

One of the many benefits of living by the beach is the fun little restaurants that are within walking distance. On Saturday morning Scotty and I packed up the babe and headed on a walk to breakfast. We went to a new place called Swami’s that had a great menu and very relaxed atmosphere. Kayden luckily slept through most of our meal and we had a great time relaxing and getting a little exercise!

Sunday is Charger day! In the morning Kayden and I went on a brisk run and Scotty went out surfing in his new Scion XB. Such a cute surfer mobile! Anyway, after our morning exercising I had a few errands to run before the game. Scotty was super dad and had Kayden napping before I got home! We are now watching the Chargers lose to the Raiders. 🙁

It seems like every week it takes me more and more time to adjust to working and taking care of the home. I have to say, full-time working moms have got to be so organized and patient…and tired! I know I only work part time, but after my third day of work the laundry is piled high, the dishes need to be done, the mail needs sorting, and the house is a wreck! Luckily I have a few days off to get things back in order! I have been back at work for a month now and it seems like a routine is falling into place. It certainly is hard to get back into the swing of things after a week off! Kayden is still sleeping through the night and we are still working on the nap time routine. Mims is doing a great job reinforcing my hair-brained ideas about when and where she naps! Kayden is very lucky to have her Mimi each day to dote on her. In fact, she has a whole slew of family members that just love her so much. We are so excited for our first holiday season as a family! 🙂

Yesterday Kayden and I headed down to San Diego to spend some time with my college friend Janae and her two girls- Rylan (2yrs) and Laila (6 months). Laila and Kayden are exactly one month apart! Janae and I went to college together at SDSU and after graduating we went through the teaching program together. After we got our credentials she headed to Arizona and spent the next five years there. She taught for two years and then started having babies. Now she is a stay-at-home mom. We were both saying how lucky we are to be able to be at home with our babies, but that it can be challenging too. I have the perfect balance with working part time, but sometimes I think I could really be at home full time. This is probably because I just had a week off with my family, which means I had lots of support and help with the baby. It gets hardest when I am here alone all day with Kayden. Sometimes I just feel like the only way to get out of the house is to go shopping- that gets expensive! I know when she gets older there will be parks, the beach, and play dates in our future! In the meantime, it’s still great to get together with other new mommies and be each others’ support system. We were both saying how great it was to hear someone else talking about some of the challenges we are facing. 🙂

Here are some pictures of the three girls. I didn’t bring my good camera, so they might be a little blurry!

Here is Kayden enjoying her morning nap! She sleeps best in mommy and daddy’s bed. She is currently taking a morning nap that can range from 30  minutes to an hour and a half and an afternoon nap that is consistently 2 hours. I love a napping baby!!
