Well, we had another action-packed weekend! On Friday we headed up to Yorba Linda to stay the night at my parents’ house. We packed up the pugs and the baby and headed out. It’s amazing how much work goes into packing for a single night. Between the pugs and the baby, the car was busting at the seams! We had a birthday party to attend in Corona on Saturday evening, so we figured we’d go up the night before so we could break up the travel a little and to give my family some face time with Kayden.

On Saturday we headed out to Steph’s house for the birthday party. Her and her husband are celebrating milestone birthdays, he turned 40 and she’s turning 30! We had a great time visiting with Steph’s family and of course we had a great time with Kim and her girls too! Kim sure has her hands full with Addison. Forget the baby, Addison kept Kim, Scotty, and me on our toes! She was so cute trying to run with the big kids. Such a sweet girl!

Addison loved to give Kayden kisses on her belly and she was also very interested in checking her gums. She kept sticking her finger in her mouth! 🙂

On Sunday we watched the Chargers take home another loss with Eli and family. The game was at 10:00 am, but Scotty and I managed to go grocery shopping before the game! It was a long day to end a long weekend. Kayden had a hard time by the end of the day with the three days of over stimulation. It’s just her and I today so hopefully we can get her back on track!

Kayden met one of her first milestones yesterday. She rolled over for the first time!! She has never been a fan of tummy time, but the doctor reminded us how important it is. The doctor said that if she doesn’t like it that we should do it for short periods of time but several times a day. So yesterday we hit the tummy! To my surprise she rolled over. First on the couch, which I consider a modified surface because it descends, making it easy for her to roll. So after she rolled over on the couch we moved to the floor. She did it again! Today I put her on her activity mat in her room and she did it again! It was great because she did it in front of her Kayden Cam and Scotty was able to see it from work. In fact, my family and his family were watching too!

Here is a video of her rolling over for the first time! My excitement comes through my narration :). Click on the picture to watch the video.

Spending all day with my baby is absolutely satisfying, but sometimes I feel like I just need a little adult time! Maica and I have been trying to get together and just hang out. For as unbusy as we are, it seemed quite hard to find time to just hang out! Today we decided to get the babies and dogs together for a play date. Kooper was busy with his girlfriend Kasey. Jinx and Baby were busy figuring out who was the alpha in charge. And Kayden and Eli slept through their date per usual! Maica and I got to watch some reality TV and talk mommy. It was a nice break in my week. Thanks for coming over to play Maica, Eli, Kasey, and Baby!

Today Kayden had her four month check up! We met with Doctor Taylor and she was so great in helping us understand the changes and fun things that Kayden is starting to do. Here are her stats: Weight= 14 pounds 5 ounces; Height= 25.25 inches; Head Circumference= 42 centimeters. Here is how the doctor interpreted it: She is making steady weight gain, although she has slown down some since her rapid gain when she was first born. This is normal because she started at 6 pounds 1 ounce! She is in the 60th percentile for weight. For height she is in the 80th percentile, which means she is taller than 80% of other babies her age. Tall is subjective, I guess I should be saying ‘long’ :). Now let’s talk head! Kayden has daddy’s head! The doctor mentioned that she has had a “rapid” head growth, but not to be concerned because it is proportionate to her body. She so slyly mentioned that they will “keep an eye on it”… as if to say ‘if her head keeps growing this fast you are going to have an alien!’ She is in the 75th percentile for head circumference.

Next came the dreaded shots!! Exit mommy! Scotty monitored the process and when I heard Kayden screaming from the hallway, I knew it was time to rescue my princess! I think it was harder on mommy than her!

She did surprisingly well though. She was easily soothed and forgot what she was crying about by the time we hit the reception area. All-in-all we have a healthy baby who is growing like a weed (especially her head!).

Today is Columbus Day and now that Scotty is working for the government, he gets every holiday off! We decided to go to San Clemente for the afternoon to walk around and do lunch. Maica turned us on to www.restaurant.com which allows you to get $25 gift certificates for a $2 fee for printing the paper. It’s actually pretty amazing with no hidden charges. So we picked a random restaurant in San Clemente and printed a gift certificate and headed out!

After lunch we headed down to the ocean for a scenic walk. We went down to the pier and then walked along path. The weather was gloomy but surprisingly warm!

Kayden was great and slept for most of our tour de San Clemente.

At the turn-around point in our walk we decided to pose for a few tourist shots!

On our way back Scotty couldn’t help but investigate a random door in the mountain….

We really had a great day investigating a new restaurant and the beaches of San Clemente! It’s a beautiful city, and we hope to return again soon!
