31 weeks pregnant:
Today is April 21…. Kayden is due June 21. Wow! The time has definitely flown by and we are so ready to meet our little princess. My first trimester was amazing. No sickness. No bloated belly. No symptoms. My second trimester was amazing. No sickness. Growing belly. First signs of baby are felt by both mommy and daddy. Third trimester is a month in and so far I feel great. My belly is definitely growing and bulging at the seams. Scotty says to me, “I don’t know if you can get any bigger!” After dodging the numerous items being thrown at his head, he further explained that he meant that my belly is already so tight and he can’t imagine how it will expand any more. I accepted the explanation… I guess! So far we are both just really excited to think about our baby on the way. What will she look like? Who will she act like? Will she let us sleep?! We are so excited for this amazing transition in our lives and we have such a great support system in both of our families helping us prepare for the little one.
Until next week….
Mom 2 Be

Wow I can’t believe I haven’t made an entry since February 15. No excuses!! I am now 29 weeks pregnant and feeling great! My baby is growing, I am growing, and Scotty is… shrinking! Of all times in his life, why in the world would he chose now to decide to lose weight?! He is dropping the pounds and I am picking them up! Oh well, I am proud of him!
Baby update- Kayden is hanging out up-side-down and enjoying herself. The doctor says it is completely normal for babies to get ‘stuck’ up-side-down because they are comfortable. Hopefully this isn’t the first signs of stubbornness! Not my daughter, no way!
This weekend Scotty and I are taking our mini-Babymoon, which is the final vacation before our lives change forever. We are going to the Blue Lantern Inn in Dana Point courtesy of Russ and Jill. We are dropping the dogs of at grandma and grandpa’s and having a little staycation. We are planning on emptying the guest room of all furniture too so that next weekend my dad can paint with minimal obstacles.
Today I am heading up to Orange County to drop my dogs off for the weekend and go register- finally! We have a crib (the one in the pic), Bob stroller, and an armoire on it’s way… what else do we really need?!

Mom2Be

Today marks my 22 weeks of pregnancy. For those like me who don’t speak in weeks, but understand more in months, that makes me 5 1/2 months pregnant with 4 1/2 months to go! June 21, the estimated arrival date of baby Hatcher, seems to be quickly approaching. You know what else is moving fast?? The rate at which my stomach is expanding!! I have had some emotional bouts with my closet (and consequently my husband) because nothing looks right and nothing seems to fit. I have always been a thin girl, so when I went to put on my pre-pregnancy skinny-girl jeans yesterday (yeah HORRIBLE idea!!) and couldn’t even bring them over my hips, tears ensued. My poor husband was not able to help the situation. So on that day, which happened to be Valentine’s Day, he took me shopping for maternity clothes. He is truly an amazing and caring man. Now, I keep hearing that us pregnant types get emotional, irrational, irritable, and overly sensitive, but wow, my husband sure got lucky because I am NONE of those (said with a wink*)! I still feel like an orca whale, but I am learning to embrace my bump!
On a much better note, my daughter kicked me for the first time last night!! Well, I’m sure she’s been kicking for a while but last night was the first time I saw it! Yes, I said ‘saw’ it because I saw my belly move. Weirdest thing… sort of looked like a mini hiccup/twitch in my lower tummy. Awesome experience!! I now feel her kicking and fluttering. I feel like the fluttering has become way more common and the kicking is random but definitely kicking. Who knows if what I felt at 15 weeks was her moving or just gas. Either way, it was a proud moment for me, ha!

Mom-to-Be

I firmly believe I felt the baby move for the first time last night. After reading up on BabyCenter.com I found out that usually women start to feel something around 16 weeks. I am at 15 weeks. They also said that thinner women can usually feel it sooner, around 15 weeks. I was laying on the bed watching television and I felt a slight flutter. It felt like a single small butterfly barely learning to flutter his/her wings. It was very brief! BabyCenter mentioned that many first time mommies mistaken the first feelings as either hunger pains or gas. They compared the feelings to butterflies, bubbles, and some other weird things. The website also said I should start talking to the baby. I still feel a little weird about that, so I make sure Kooper and Jinx are always around. Since I talk to them in a high pitched voice, the baby will never know I am not really talking to him/her!

Moral of the Blog- Not all rumblings in the belly are gas!

Well the holidays have come and almost gone- still have New Year’s Eve. Scotty and I spent Christmas with my family this year. We were able to get to Temecula to see his sister Kelly and her family as well. It’s amazing to see her two boys because every time we see them, they seem to have changed so much! I have seen many younger cousins grow so quickly as well that I can imagine watching my own children grow up will be just as crazy. This Christmas was especially great because we were able to share with our family that we are pregnant. My grandparents are thrilled to be great grandparents. Aunts, uncles, and cousins were just as happy for us. We are due June 21, although my grandmother would appreciate me delivering on June 17 because it is her birthday. I told her I would work on it! It is great to have been able to share this news with our families. It has been a very hard secret to keep! 2010 has the promise to be a wonderful year as it will mean the expansion of our family- and I can’t wait!
